Our Therapies

  • Harm Reduction Therapy

As an alternative to abstinence-only models, Hart NW Counseling’s Harm Reduction Therapy (HaRT) acknowledges the unique, complex relationship each person has with substances. HaRT supports clients in developing personalized strategies to enhance safety and reduce unwanted consequences related to alcohol and/or drug use. This approach may include safer use, moderation, exploring underlying motivations for substance use, or abstinence—allowing clients to define their own path toward wellness.

  • Brainspotting (BSP)

Brainspotting (BSP) is a therapeutic tool we use at Hart NW Counseling to help clients access deep-seated emotional experiences and promote healing. Aligned with our client-centered and holistic approach, BSP works by tapping into the body’s natural ability to process trauma, allowing clients to release pain and limiting beliefs stored in the subconscious. This method supports individuals in reclaiming their personal power and moving toward an authentic, empowered life, in line with Hart NW’s commitment to fostering self-awareness, resilience, and connection to one’s truest self.

While Brainspotting is highly effective for trauma and related issues, not all of our clinicians utilize this modality. For those who do, BSP aligns with our holistic approach by fostering resilience, empowerment, and a deeper connection to one’s authentic self. Clients interested in BSP are encouraged to inquire about availability with their therapist or explore other therapeutic options offered at Hart NW Counseling.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

At Hart NW Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the evidence-based approaches we use to help clients identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns that may be holding them back. Rooted in our philosophy of self-empowerment and authenticity, CBT allows individuals to replace limiting beliefs with constructive, supportive ones that align with their goals and values. Through a process of awareness and intentional change, CBT can help clients feel more in control of their lives, fostering resilience and alignment with their highest good.

For those interested in exploring how these concepts connect to intentional goal-setting, visit our manifestation page.

  • Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a client-centered approach we use at Hart NW Counseling to help clients explore and strengthen their own motivation for change. Rather than directing clients toward a specific outcome, MI respects each person’s autonomy, fostering an open and compassionate environment where clients can connect with their values and goals. This collaborative process empowers individuals to overcome ambivalence, tap into their inner resources, and make meaningful changes aligned with their true selves. Aligned with Hart NW’s philosophy, MI supports clients in taking ownership of their healing journey, reinforcing self-belief and personal agency.

  • Mind-Body Connection and Mindfulness

At Hart NW Counseling, we believe that true healing involves connecting the mind, body, and spirit. Through practices that foster the mind-body connection and mindfulness, clients are encouraged to develop greater self-awareness and presence. Mindfulness invites individuals to tune into the present moment, cultivating an understanding of their inner experiences without judgment. This alignment supports clients in recognizing patterns, processing emotions, and connecting deeply with their authentic selves.

Rooted in our philosophy of self-empowerment and holistic care, the mind-body connection and mindfulness practices help clients build resilience, increase emotional flexibility, and foster a grounded sense of well-being on their path to healing.

  • Parts Work

An approach we use at Hart NW Counseling to help clients understand and integrate the different aspects of themselves that shape their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Often, these "parts" represent distinct needs, desires, or protective mechanisms developed in response to life experiences. By acknowledging and working with these parts, clients can foster self-compassion, resolve inner conflicts, and create harmony within themselves.

Aligned with our philosophy of self-awareness and authenticity, Parts Work empowers individuals to understand the complexity of their inner world. This process helps clients reconnect with their core self, allowing them to move forward with greater clarity, self-acceptance, and emotional resilience.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

A powerful, evidence-based therapy used at Hart NW Counseling to help clients process traumatic memories and reduce the emotional distress associated with them. EMDR facilitates the brain’s natural healing process, allowing clients to reframe difficult experiences and release limiting beliefs that may be impacting their lives.

While EMDR is highly effective for trauma and related issues, not all of our clinicians utilize this modality. For those who do, EMDR aligns with our holistic approach by fostering resilience, empowerment, and a deeper connection to one’s authentic self. Clients interested in EMDR are encouraged to inquire about availability with their therapist or explore other therapeutic options offered at Hart NW Counseling.

  • Ketamine-Assisted Therapy

Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT) offers a unique approach for clients seeking new perspectives and support for challenges like treatment-resistant depression and PTSD. This therapy takes place in a safe, controlled environment with a trained provider, allowing clients to access insights that can complement traditional therapeutic work.
